WORKSHOP

Preston can offer a workshop in any of the basic weapons (and even some specialty weapons!) as a one or two day session. A workshop session typically runs 3-6 hours, allowing for an introduction to a particular fighting style through the use of drills, exercises, and a choreographed short scene.

CHOREOGRAPHER

Stage Combat choreography in the context of a play or musical is the ultimate goal- to create a safe environment in which actors can portray various types of violence to further the story. If you have to ask the question, "do we need a fight choreographer?" then the answer is already yes. Too often actors are asked to do things on stage without proper training or choreography and this is not a safe environment. Even if you have questions or think a quick 1-hour rehearsal on falls or slaps would be helpful, use the contact form below!

THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT-TIME

Ephrata Performing Arts Center

Preston is the Physical Theater and Stage Combat Choreographer for The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time at the Ephrata Performing Arts Center.

We all see the world differently, but Christopher John Francis Boone has a very unique perspective. Living on the autism spectrum, life can be tough at times, but being a mathematical genius certainly helps. After finding his neighbor’s dog stabbed with a garden fork and being wrongfully accused, Christopher takes it upon himself to solve this dark mystery. But when he uncovers more truths than he bargained for, his investigation will take him farther from home than he’s ever been alone. Will he have what it takes to survive the adventure? Like many journeys we may take in life, no matter how far we travel, we find our way back home.

SUICIDE FOREST

Ma-Yi Theater Company

Preston is returning to Off-Broadway with the Ma-Yi Theater Company as the Fight Choreographer of Suicide Forest.

In 1990’s Japan, a teenage girl grapples with her sexuality in a male-defined society as a salaryman desperately tries to escape his masochistic psyche. Both are clawing for their self-worth. When their journeys collide, they expose their darkest desires fueled by shame as they now confront life and death with the notorious Suicide Forest looming over their imagination. Performed by a Japanese heritage cast, Suicide Forest breaks through the silence and submissiveness often associated with Japanese and Asian American identity, examining the role of community and the struggles of emotional, psychic and social suicide through the playwright’s lived stories.
